Broken Frida was created in 2025, a year shadowed by countless femicides around the world. This painting belongs to the Strange City series, where each work reflects human experiences, struggles, and resilience.

The process of creating this work was an intensely emotional moment. Every stroke carried the weight of grief, anger, and love. The canvas became a space where silence broke open into expression — where pain could transform into color and shape.

This piece is not just about pain. It is about survival. It honors someone close to me who endured the unimaginable and still found the strength to keep living. Through her story, Broken Frida speaks for many — women whose voices are too often silenced.

The textures, the fractured shapes, and the heavy colors carry both wounds and healing. They are scars, but they are also pathways to light.

A  greek song accompanies this work: Takounia gia karfia. It has always been a companion to the story, a reminder that art and music can transform grief into memory, and memory into inspiration.

Broken Frida is not only a painting. It is a testimony, a tribute, and a call to never look away.
